COMAL COUNTY FAIR PARADE RULES
Due to the plaza being under contruction during the fair parade no one will be allowed to stop and perform.
NO 18 WHEELERS ARE ALLOWED TO CROSS THE SAN ANTONIO ST BRIDGE. All must turn left onto Market St. to exit the parade.
1. Parade begins at 10:00 a.m. rain or shine.
2. Deadline for entries in the parade will be Friday, September 4, 2009 at 5p.m. Any entry received after deadline date will be charged a late fee of $25.00. No entries will be accepted after 5 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009.
3. Judging will begin at 8:30 a.m. All entries must be in place, setup, and riders must remain in place until all judging is completed. Entries will not be judged if participants are not in place. You are responsible for notifying your groups of judging time.
4. Autos and large vehicles must be driven by a licensed driver. Small vehicles (mini-bikes, small tractors, etc.) must be operated by a person age 12 or older and accompanied by an adult.
5. Alcoholic beverages consumed by drivers or any participants before or during the parade are expressly forbidden. If a driver or participant is seen consuming alcohol while participating in the parade, it will result in immediate removal from parade formation and will affect future invitations.
6. No profanity or nudity may be displayed on the entry (this includes, posters, writing, signs, participant’s clothing, ext.)
7. No articles whatsoever (gum, candy, flyers, etc.) may be thrown, handed, or passed from any float or vehicle. This is a safety rule for participants and spectators. Anyone not abiding by this rule will be immediately removed from the parade formation.
8. Parade participants are not permitted to leave vehicles, demonstrate in the street, to stop or slow the forward movement of the parade in any way. There are no exceptions.
9. When disbanding, units shall not block flow of traffic for participants behind them. Parade officials shall direct the disbanding, which will be in Prince Solms Park.
10. Each youth group shall be represented by an adult supervisor who shall be responsible for his/her group following all parade rules. Each group shall name a contact person. Names of supervisor or contact person must be submitted with application.
11. All car clubs wanting to participate will be limited to 6 vehicles per entry and will move through parade route 2 abreast.
12. All riders in cavalcade groups (horses, trail riders, etc.) are encouraged to have a common attire or costume for the group. Example for a youth group: blue jeans, western shirt, cowboy hat, and neckerchief. You must furnish your own pooper scooper. All horse riders must provide a coggins test to parade official by 8:30 a.m. the morning of the parade.
13. All commercial entries must be decorated or they will be placed at the end of the parade.
14. Exceptions to these rules may be made only with the approval of the Parade Committee of the CCFA.
15. The Comal County Fair Association is very proud of its long-standing reputation for quality, family oriented entertainment, and therefore, the Parade Committee retains the right to refuse entry of float, unit, or individual not conforming to the high standards of the CCFA. Failure to comply with the parade rules may result in removal from the parade formation and will affect future invitations.
16. An information contact point will be set up on the corner of San Antonio and Santa Clara streets, between 7:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. for your convenience, and to answer any questions.
17. PLEASE LINE UP ON STREET LISTED BY YOUR CATEGORY. LINE UP IS FIRST COME WITH EXCEPTION TO SCHOOL ORGANIZATIONS, WHICH WILL ROTATE IN LINE UP.

3. Visiting Towns and Cities–N. Sycamore (right side) 3. Horse Groups –N. Santa Clara
4. Visiting Festivals and Fairs–N. Sycamore (right side) 4. Commercial–S. Sycamore (both sides)
5. School Organizations–S. Santa Clara 5. Walking Groups–Church’s Fried Chicken Parking Lot
6. Fire Trucks/EMS–Lack’s Parking Lot
7. Antique Tractors–NBISD Learning Center
8. Miscellaneous–N. Sycamore (left side)
Please ask parents dropping off their child/children to refrain from driving down the line up streets (Santa Clara St., Willow St., Sycamore St., and Cross St.). This is for the safety of all parade participants!
The parade route runs down San Antonio Street beginning at Santa Clara Street and ending at Liberty Street.
