POULTRY DIVISION
OPEN PIGEON SHOW
Rules:
1) A coop fee of $1 per bird must accompany all entry forms.
2) No entry fee will be refunded for any reason.
3) Entries will be accepted at the fairgrounds between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23.
4) All entries will be free of disease or parasites. The poultry committee will coop all birds. Parasitic or sick entries will be rejected.
5) First, second, third, and fourth place ribbons will be offered in each breed. If, in the opinion of the judge, the entries in any breed are not worthy, the judge can make such awards in keeping with the quality of the entry. Each breed will be judged separately and only first-place winners will compete for prize money.
6) Each exhibitor will receive one pass to the fairgrounds good for all days of the fair for every four birds entered.
7) The Fair Association will furnish feed and water unless other arrangements are made with the committee.
8) All entries must be removed from the fairgrounds between 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 27. There will be no one at the Poultry Barn on Monday, Sept. 28. The Fair Association is not responsible for entries not picked up by 7 p.m. on Sept. 27. No entries will be released before 5 p.m., Sept. 27.

BACKYARD POULTRY SHOW
Rules:
The ComaI County Fair Association sponsors a show for persons who like to raise backyard chickens. The birds do not have to be pure bred, must be in good condition and be free of disease and pests and must have a current Pullorum-Typhoid (P/T) test.
1) A coop fee of $1 will be charged per bird and must be paid prior to cooping your bird.
2) No entry fee will be refunded for any reason.
3) Entries will be accepted at the fairgrounds between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 23.
4) Each exhibitor will receive one pass to the fairgrounds good for all days of the fair (additional passes for four birds or more entered).
5) Birds without a P/T test, birds that show obvious disease, or birds that have parasites will not be accepted. The decision of the Superintendent will be final.
6) All poultry must originate from Pullorum-Typhoid clean sources and must be accompanied by a certificate of source or purchase. The Comal County Fair Association is required to bar from exhibition any poultry not accompanied by a certificate of source or purchase.
NO TESTING WILL BE DONE THE DAY OF THE FAIR AS IN THE PAST; ALL BIRDS MUST BE TESTED PRIOR TO THE SHOW. Mr. Dicky Richardson is the testing agent in the area and his phone number is 512-466-8235. He will come to your residence and test your flock at no charge. The Pullorum-Typhoid flock test is valid for one year from the date of the last test and that will allow the participant to show in the fair.
7) If you wish to show turkeys, they must be tested at least 30 days prior to the show. Turkeys require a blood test that must be sent to a lab for analysis. This service is free through Mr. Dicky Richardson.who may be contacted at 512-466-8235.

BABY BARNYARD
The Barnyard Committee will be available to give tours for local school classes on Wednesday, Sept. 23 and Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009. The children and teachers will be able to pet the baby animals during the tours. The baby barnyard will be open during various times throughout the fair.
