Anyone living in Comal County or any of the counties touching Comal County may enter this
contest.

Entries will be accepted between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 27th.

Judging will take place on Thursday, Sept. 28th, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (no spectators, please). The screening committee and/or the Committee

Chairperson must accept all entries and their decisions are final.

One exhibitor’s admission day pass will be given for each entry accepted.

All entries must be picked up on Sunday, October 1st, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. or Monday, October 2nd, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Children’s Division:

Class Age Group: (4-5) blue, red and white ribbons awarded only. (A count of 4 only please, in each child's entry.)

Tri-color, blue, red and white ribbons will be awarded to all winners in the children’s division except for Class I (age 4-5). Please see information above.

Class I (ages 4 – 5)

Class II (ages 6 – 8),

Class III (ages 9 – 11).

Class IV (ages 12 – 18 provided they are still enrolled in school).

**Children Division will follow the adult division categories that are listed below.

Special Note:

Children’s Decorated Cakes should be NO larger than 9 inches by 13 inches in length and width and no taller than 7 inches in height. The display cases will not accommodate a larger cake. Theres is also a category for Children's Decorated Cookies and Children's Decorate Cupcakes. These are judged by appearance only. Please be reminded there is no refrigeration Our display case will not accommodate any larger cake.

Adult Division:

Adult winners will receive trophies, tri-color, blue, red, and white ribbons.

Division Trophy awards will be given in the following categories:

  • 1)Best Layer Cake
  • 2) Best Pie
  • 3) Best Cookies
  • 4) Best Yeast Product
  • 5) Best Non-Yeast Product
  • 6) Best Cake
  • 7) Best Sweet Yeast Bread
  • 8) Best Candy
  • 9) Best Muffin
  • 10) Best Decorated Cake (decorated cake shall not be taller than 12 inches high).


Division Tri color ribbons

  • 1) Cupcake - Cake Balls- Brownies
  • 2) Bar Cookies
  • 3) Decorated Cookies
  • 4) Loaf Bread


(DISPLAY SPACE IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF NEW ENTRY COUNTS)

Please bring a count of 8 with your entry. We will display the best four (4) count of each item. See list below. We will carefully select the best of the count to display at the front table. You can take the rest to share at work or back home (or with our fair volunteer workers).

Rules:
Bring recipe to be submitted with entry. Only home-cooked products will be accepted. No products shall be made from packaged mixes. The judges will sample all products. No baked goods will be accepted from stores or bakeries. A well-made cake properly baked should be of uniform thickness, not high in the middle or the sides of the tin and low in other places.

PLEASE NOTE:
Do not bring cakes in pans with sides as all cakes must be removed to uniform display plates, and only a portion will be displayed, so bring at least ½ of the cake for entry we will cut cake on site. No dollies, please.

No Refrigeration Available:
Do not bring any item to exhibit that will melt, or that needs to be refrigerated, or needs to be kept cool. There is NO REFRIGERATION available. (example, no cheesecakes, soft chocolates or cream cheese icings) Only Decorated Cakes will stay Whole.
Do not put fresh fruit on entries. They deteriorate and mold too quickly in the warm display cases.

Class A: YEAST PRODUCTS
1) Loaf of white bread (whole loaf)
2) Loaf of brown bread (whole loaf)

Class AA: SWEET YEAST PRODUCTS
1) Coffee cake or sweet rolls (Count of 4) bring a count of 8
2) Raised donuts – (Count of 4) bring a count of 8

Class B: CAKES (entry is ½ cake)(We will cut smaller for display)
1) Angel Food
2) Chocolate
3) Yellow
4) Marble
5) Spice
6) Chiffon
7) Sponge
8) Bundt
9) Miscellaneous

Class C: LAYER CAKE (entry is ½ cake)
1) Dark
2) Yellow
3) White
4) Miscellaneous

Class D: COOKIES (Please bring a count of 8, we will take the best count of 4. No Broke ones)

No cookies larger then 3 inches. No broken cookies will be accepted
1) Drop cookies (any variety)--count 8
2) Cake donuts--count 8
3) Rolled cookies--count 8
4) Ice box cookies (any variety)--count 8
5) Macaroons (any variety)--count 8

Tri Color ( We will down size at table) (A Count of 4)

1) Cupcake or Cake Balls, Brownies (any variety)--count of 8

2) Bar Cookies-- count of 8

3) Decorated Cookies (any variety)-- count of 8

Class E: HOT BREADS (entry size for each piece is 3” X 3”) (Please bring a count of 8)
1) Yellow cornbread – (no meat) (any variety)-- Count of 4
2) White cornbread – count of 4
3) Biscuit – count of 4 (not bigger than a cup)

4) Noodles- 1 to 1 1/2 cups

5) Tortillas, any kind (1/2 dozen)

6) Non-baked goods

Class EE: QUICK BREAKFAST (We will down size at table)
1) Muffins (any variety) – banana – cranberry, carrot, zucchini, etc. --bring 8 count

Class EA: LOAF BREADS (We will down size at table)
2) Loaf Bread – (non yeast) will take 1/2 loaf (or) small loaf pan

Class F: CANDY (entry is 8 pieces and candy cannot be sticky)
1) Fudge
2) Divinity
3) Date roll
4) Pralines
5) Miscellaneous

Class G: PIES
1) Fruit
2) Pecan
3) Meringue
4) Miscellaneous

Class H: DECORATED CAKE (must have an entry under decorated cakes)

These are judged on appearance only. 9 inches by 13 inches in length. No taller than 7 inches in height. Please remember we have no refrigerator.
