WE WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY PROFESSIONAL BAKER GOODS!


Anyone living in Comal County or any of the counties touching Comal County may enter this
contest.

Entries will be accepted between 8:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 25th.

Judging will take place on Thursday, Sept. 26th, from 8:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. (no spectators, please). The screening committee and/or the Committee

Chairperson must accept all entries and their decisions are final.

One exhibitor’s admission day pass will be given for each entry accepted.

All entries must be picked up on Sunday, September 29th, between 5:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. or Monday, September 30th, between 8:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon.

Children’s Division:

Tri-color, blue, red and white ribbons will be awarded to all winners in the children’s division . Please see information above.

Age 6-8 years

Age 9-11 years

Age 12-14 years

Age 15-18 years and still in high school


Special Note:

Children’s Decorated Cakes should be NO larger than 9 inches by 13 inches in length and width or 9 inches round cake, and wideth no talled than 12 inches in height. Please have decorated cake on a cake display larder than thecake so we can attach the identifier tage. Our Display case will not accommodate any larger cakes.

We also have children decorated cookies and decorated cupcakes. They are judged by looks only. We have no refrigeration available.

Kid Division Below:

1) Best Yeast Product or Sweet Yeast – CLASS J
2) Best Cake or Layer Cake – CLASS K
3) Best Cookie--- CLASS L
4) Best Cupcake or Browne’s, Cake Pops – CLASS M
5) Best Breakfast or Dinner item-----CLASS N
(Following the adult (E- EE)
6) Best Candy---- CLASS O
7) Best Pie---- CLASS P
8) Best Decorated Cake--- CLASS Q
9) Best Decorated Cupcake or Cake Pop---- CLASS R
10) Best Decorated Cookie----- CLASS S


Adult Division:

Adult winners will receive trophies, tri-color, blue, red, and white ribbons based on judge decisions.

Division Trophy awards will be given in the following categories:

  • 2) Best Pie (Whole Pie)
  • 3) Best Cookies
  • 4) Best Yeast Product
  • 5) Best Non-Yeast Product
  • 6) Best Cake
  • 7) Best Sweet Yeast Bread
  • 8) Best Candy
  • 9) Best Muffin
  • 10) Best Decorated Cake (decorated cake shall not be taller than 12 inches high).

(DISPLAY SPACE IS LIMITED, SO PLEASE MAKE NOTE OF NEW ENTRY COUNTS)

PLEASE BRING A COUNT OF 8 WE WILL DISPLAY THE BEST OF EACH ITEM. WE WILL
BE DOWNSIZE THE COUNT OF ENTRY AT THE FRONT TABLE SO YOU CAN TAKE THE

REST TO WORK OR BACK HOME.


Rules:
Bring recipe to be sent with your entry and include your name and phone number on the back.
Only home-prepared products will be accepted. No products shall be made from packaged
mixes. The judges will sample all products. No baked goods will be accepted from stores or
bakeries. A well-made cake properly baked should be of uniform thickness, not high in the
middle or the edges.


PLEASE NOTE:
Do not bring cakes in pans with sides as all cakes must be removed to a display plate. and

(ONLY A PORTION WILL BE DISPLAYED) (SO BRING AT LIST ½ OF THE CAKE) for entry
we will cut cake on site. Example. No doilies, on the back please.
No Refrigeration Available:
Do not bring any item to show that will melt, or that needs to be refrigerated, or needs to be kept
cool. There is NO REFRIGERATION AVAILABLE. (Example, no cheesecakes, soft Chocolate
or cream cheese icings). ONLY DECORATED CAKES will stay whole. Do not put fresh fruit on
entries. They spoil and mold too quickly in the warm display cases.

Class A: YEAST PRODUCTS

Class AA: SWEET YEAST PRODUCTS(Bring a count of 8)
1) Coffee cake or sweet rolls
2) Raised donuts

Class B: CAKES (entry is ½ cake)(We will cut smaller for display)
1) Angel Food
2) Chocolate
3) Yellow
4) Marble
5) Spice
6) Chiffon
7) Sponge
8) Bundt
9) Miscellaneous

Class C: LAYER CAKE (entry is ½ cake)
1) Dark
2) Yellow
3) White
4) Miscellaneous

Class D: COOKIES (Please bring a count of 8, we will take the best count of 4. No Broken ones)

1) Drop cookies (any variety)
2) Cake donuts--

Tri Color ( We will down size at table) (A Count of 8)

Class E: HOT BREADS (entry size for each piece is 3” X 3”) (Please bring a count of 8)
1) Yellow cornbread – (no meat) (any variety)
2) White cornbread
3) Biscuit -(not bigger than a cup)

4)Tortillas, any kind (1/2 dozen)

5) Quick Bread or Beer Breads

6)Sourdough Bread

Class EE: QUICK BREAKFAST (We will down size at table)
1) Muffins (any variety) – banana – cranberry, carrot, zucchini espresso, chocolate chip, miscellaneous


Class F: CANDY (entry is 8 pieces and candy cannot be sticky)

Class G: PIES (Whole Pie)

Class H: DECORATED CAKE (must have an entry under decorated cakes)

These are judged on appearance only. 9 inches by 13 inches in length. No taller than 7 inches in height. Please remember we have no refrigerator.
